FAQ

Q:

What is a LIVE-ACTION game?

A:

LIVE-ACTION games are played in the REAL WORLD (rather than sitting around a table), and usually involves some level of moving around and physically interacting with other players and your environment.

LARP's, Airsoft and HvZ are all examples of live-action games.

Q:

Does GANGSTERS cost money to play?

A:

Nah, GANGSTERS is free to play. Your only expense may be making or buying some simple props.

Q:

What kind of props do I need?

A:

The props used in GANGSTERS are easy to make (or acquire). Here's what you'll need:

(1) some paper MONEY (like Monopoly money)

(2) tokens to represent "contraband" (which we call "CHERRIES")

(3) basic WEAPONS (toy guns can work fine, as can other options)

Q:

Does GANGSTERS involve costumes or acting?

A:

No way — at least, not unless you want it to. While players DO play different “roles,” there’s no more acting required to play GANGSTERS than playing Risk or Monopoly.

Q:

Can I play GANGSTERS alone?

A:

No, sorry, GANGSTERS only works with a group of people. You'll need at least five just to get started.

Q:

Is GANGSTERS for kids?

A:

No way! While GANGSTERS may appeal to the "kid in all of us," we consider weapons and contraband mature topics not appropriate for little dudes.

Q:

How does GANGSTERS earn money?

A:

We (eventually) hope to earn money in 3 ways:

(1) by selling merch

(2) by selling cool, custom equipment

(3) by (some day) charging a small fee to use the GANGSTERS Game Tracker, a feature (currently under development) that will help setup and facilitate larger games, making them easier to organize and offering a more robust experience overall.

Q:

Do I need a computer or phone to play Gangsters?

A:

No way! We consider GANGSTERS "old-school" fun — just good ol' fashioned, face-to-face interaction.

While features like the Game Tracker may exist someday (and we hope it does), GANGSTERS will always focus on bringing people together in the REAL WORLD.

Q:

How do I get started?

A:

It's simple! Besides the rules and your imagination, you really only need three things:

(1) a small group of people

(2) some simple equipment

(3) a place to play
